Education: The minimum education requirement for a Georgia’s Pre-K lead teacher is a bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or related degree. A lead teacher must have valid and current certificates or credentials from a nationally or state recognized institution approved by Bright from the Start.
Overall Job Description:
The Lead Pre-k Teacher Plans and implements activities that promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth of children. Responsible for the care, hygiene, learning, and developmental activities, and redirection of children. Communicates well with parents (verbally and written) .Maintains classroom records (WSO), as well as those records required for grant requirement compliance, and maintains cleanliness, and orderliness in the classroom
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
•Develop lesson plans that follow Prek/Bright From The Start requirements •Teach at an appropriate instructional level, Provide content development. •Meet with project director to review lesson plans, student updates and grant requirement checklists. •Assist all students in achieving academic standards and establishing high expectations
•Promote student engagement and provide appropriate assessments. •Monitor student progress, complete progress reports, meet with parents to go over children’s progress. •Respond to adequate and inadequate student performance. •Support students with encouragement. •Use time efficiently. •Maintain effective physical setting for instruction. •Maintain appropriate student behavior in the classroom. •Follow professional practices consistent with GA Pre-k and system policies in working
with students, students’ records, parents and colleagues.
•Ensure adherence to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, as established by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. •Integrate the use of technology and multimedia in the classroom where appropriate. •Ensure adherence to appropriate safety procedures. •Attends meetings, trainings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions. •Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. •Leadership in the classroom including but not limited to setting priorities, maintaining confidentiality, communicating to parents, management, pre-k consultants, development training to assistant teacher working as part of a team; and working with constant interruptions.
